Art On The Lawn is an opportunity for the public to experience local Fernie art, meet the artists and see them work! A truly unique experience as part of Chautauqua!

A wide variety of local artists will display their work for viewing and sale. Many of of them will demonstrate artistic techniques. There’ll be an activity for kids, too.

Never stop asking, never stop listening, never stop learning, and never stop sharing. Knowledge is a kind of power, but it’s only when we share that power that we truly become a powerful people.

The Elkford Arts Council (EAC) invites artists (or artist teams) to submit a Proposal to design and create a site-specific public artwork at the Elkford Community Conference Centre in Elkford, BC, Canada.

This opportunity is open to professional artists (and artist teams) who demonstrate the following attributes:

If she wasn’t reading, or daydreaming, she was doodling, colouring and doing crafts. This hasn’t changed; even in school my favourite subject is Art.

Six significant Fernie heritage buildings have recently been successful recipients of Heritage Grants funded by the Columbia Basin Trust and managed by Heritage BC. Join heritage consultant, Elana Zysblat, on a walking tour to learn about their history, evolution, a few fascinating and little known facts, and the plans for their conservation. The buildings on tour are: City Hall (former Crowsnest Pass Coal Co. headquarters), Christ Church, Holy Family Church, Fernie Courthouse, Knox United Church and the Fernie Museum (former Home Bank of Canada).

Join the Johnny Summers Quintet for an intimate jazz brunch at the Park Place Lodge. Johnny has worked and performed with a number of award winning artists including Ellis Marsalis, Tommy Banks, and Maria Schneider.

As a recording artist Johnny has toured Internationally, directs the Calgary Jazz Orchestra and is the recipient of 10 Global Music Awards, a Gospel Music Award, and numerous nominations for YYMCA, AMPIA and GMA.

Sometimes you don't know what you need inside your soul. That is, until you're yelling out lyrics to Robyn's Show Me Love circa 1997 while wine-drunk, and on your way to a pool overlooking a vineyard.

This year's culture tour will include many returning favourites as well as a number of exciting new locations to explore.

Self-directed and free of charge, the culture tour is a great opportunity to meet people behind the scenes at galleries and museums, visit studios and venues not normally open, shop for original art or fine crafts and experience special events planned only for this weekend.
