East Kootenay Division of Family Practice
The East Kootenay Division of Family Practice works to continuously develop better and more comprehensive primary care in the region. Thanks to Shared Care’s financial support, the Division has been working for the last year to improve chronic pain care in the Elk Valley.
In other communities the creation of a peer support group proved to be really helpful for people with chronic pain. The first step to creating a local group in the Elk Valley is to find volunteers to facilitate the group meetings.
Self-Management BC is offering free leadership training in Fernie. Anyone interested can send an email to elkvalleychronicpain@gmail. com or contact Christine Bramwell, Self-Management BC coordinator, at email@example.com.
More resources regarding chronic pain can be found at painbc.ca/elkvalley.
The Green Petal
21 2nd Ave
The Green Petal opened its doors in 2010 and has become a major player in the Fernie wedding industry for its floral design. The shop also boasts unique home and kitchen décor and is excited to be a part of the tropical houseplant trend happening now.
New owner Kim Larsen plans on growing the houseplant side of the business. “With more people now working from home I think people want to beautify their surroundings, and plants are more than just beautiful, they cleanse the air we breathe and like a pet they require love and nurturing to live,” says Larsen.
Plant shipments arrive bi-weekly and they go fast! Follow them on instagram for all the new arrivals.
