The Fernie Heritage Libary host the annual Ride with Librarians event happening Thursday, May 31st from 4:00-5:30pm.

The ride starts at at the Library garden at 4:00pm. This ride is created to raise awareness of library programming and to bring the Fernie Book Bike back into the community for the Summer months. It is an enthusiastic and leisurely bike parade for ALL AGES and they are hoping for lots of local riders, whistles and waves!

September has always been a favourite month for mountain biking in Fernie. Cooler temperatures, the start of the autumn colours and a few less folks on the trails – just perfect. Long-time staff member Gui shares the excitement about the September Bonus Weekend.

Join Fernie Alpine Resort for a casual and fun downhill mountain bike race modeled after their popular Thursday Night Race Series.

The race will take place at the end of the day at 4:30pm. Entry for the race is $5 and includes a post race beverage at Kelsey’s. Interested racers can register at the Adventure Centre in the main plaza on race day and must meet at the top of the course for 4:30pm for a racers briefing. Race course will be revealed closer to race day and will involve trail(s) on the mid to lower part of the Timber Side bike trails.

Join the Fernie Trails Alliance and the Fernie & Sparwood mountain biking community for a 2017 celebration of The Great Trail, connecting Canada coast-to-coast. All are welcome.

  • 1-4pm Group ride from Fernie & Sparwood to Hosmer
  • 5-7pm BBQ at Hosmer Ruins

Spring is a great time to get out for a hike or trail run. Please be mindful of potentially wet trails. A classic Fernie trail that tends to dry out early is Swine Flu. Many will be “green” with envy of the views you can take in at the top.

The Fernie Trails Alliance continually works to adapt to the changes that the trail users we represent desire and here are some of the examples, of the changes they have made of late.
