December 2014 Editor's Fix

When writing, it is difficult to avoid aspects of your life from dripping onto the page. I sometimes try to avoid writing about being a mom or about my daughter, but find it nearly impossible. Especially when writing about Christmas.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Americans do not like their government. Many citizens, including right-wing radio hosts Rush Limbaugh and Alex Jones, and convicted terrorist Timothy McVeigh, seem to view those who govern the country as corrupt, greedy or downright evil; and the social programs they provide as being at best annoying and at worst conspiratorial and harmful. It makes sense, then, that American popular culture would have an abundance of movies and television shows featuring vast government conspiracies and villainous politicians.
