Wapiti Music Festival Sees Record Breaking Year

The seventh annual Wapiti Music Festival took place over the weekend amidst one of busiest summers on record for Fernie BC.

Over 2000 sun-drenched festival goers packed into the festival to dance and listen to a range of Canadian Indie music over the warm sunny weekend. As of Saturday at 4pm, the festival had reached capacity, setting a new attendance record.

The festival, already a favourite among locals, has been discovered by visitors. This year tickets were purchased from all over Canada and throughout North Western USA.

Friday night Regina, Saskatchewan’s “The Dead South” provided outstanding foot stompin’ good times. Saturday was a music lovers dream with airy electric jams, big band jazz, singer songwriters, a pop rock band and a smoking Latin show.

“This was a brilliant year for us. We were packed in, but with plenty of room left for the dance floor. Our advance sales were twice that of any previous years and our own branded merchandise sold out in hours. We’ll take that back to planning. The energy level this year was off the charts. It was humbling,” said Wapiti Music Festival Director, Kevin McIsaac.

Wapiti Music Festival Society is an all volunteer, non-profit organization in Fernie, BC bringing you a music festival with a fresh mountain experience.
